It’s the start of a new year, a new adventure and a new plan.
Do you make new year resolutions? I do. Some don’t – they say it merely dooms them to failure as soon as they make a resolution. And so they resolve not to resolve…
Strength to them, I’m sure they’ll go far.
For me and my house, we make plans. We’re gonna be better than we’ve been. We’re going to bring something exciting to the world. We’re going to do it like it ain’t been done before. We’re gonna to leave a legacy of goodness behind us.
Stop. Collaborate. Listen. This is good advice for anyone making new year resolutions, and wanting to do something exciting with their life. Stop your chaotic existence, collaborate everyone and everything together, and listen. This is the process of making better, more informed plans and strategies for a new year.
I may sound like a life coach. That’s because this year I will be 30 years old. Now, some of you will find this hard to believe. But yes, it’s true.
It was September 1981: Simon & Garfunkel performed The Concert in Central Park; the Boeing 767 airliner made its first flight; and in I arrived in a hospital in Johannesburg.

This year will be memorable because I will purchase my first electric guitar and amp. That’s right… now listen carefully, because you are a part of this. Yes, you reading this. I’m giving you enough warning now, for September 22, 2011 – which is my birthday.
Come that day, you can all make up for every other birthday that you’ve missed and put money towards some new, sonic equipment. Don’t say you weren’t sure when my birthday is or what I wanted… I’m telling you now:
22 September. Money. Electric guitar. Capiché?
Aah, the future is exciting. This year, the RCB starts a number of new ventures. For a start, a new band member’s arrival is imminent. Baby Hemmero. That’s right… Berto is gonna be a daddy.
We can’t really top that. Our only other news is that, as a band we’ll be looking into the exciting possibilities of video and the start of collaborating as a band on songs for the next album.
And as always, there’ll be some more exciting online endeavours, and we’d like you – yes, you reading this – along for the ride. We value your insights, your opinion, and your contribution to the band.
So first on our to-do list, as mentioned, is a music video. This is exciting, can we just say. We’d like your input on this – if you wanna be a part of it, let us know. If you’ve got a great idea, or an exciting way of going about making a video, let us know.
Online, we’ll continue with our new Web Buddies section, as well as the next stages of our Life in South Africa blog series. We’ll be on Facebook and Twitter, and one particular avenue you’ll be seeing of us a lot more on is our YouTube channel.
Here’s to an exciting year, full of goodness.
