Preface: The Great Deep live show

The Great Deep live show is something that I’ve dreamed about for… uh, probably my whole life. The idea is a concert-type performance, along with a big screen that has an animated character on it. The character interacts (during and between songs) with myself and a band through the performance.

If that doesn’t make sense, there’s a bit of insight into it here:

I am a hobbyist animator. Meaning I don’t have any formal training in the medium. But I just love it. (If you didn’t read the “Before I Die” blog post about becoming an animator, click here.) The idea is to just hop in and see how much I can get done on my own.

Years ago I was working on something and a documentary about Shaun Ellis – aka The Wolf Man – was playing on the TV in the background.

As I heard the line below, I felt a whisper from heaven:

“Progress that has been made in science over the last century and more comes from the mavericks or the people who think a little differently.”

Chris Darimont (Wolf Biologist in British Columbia), National Geographic.

So… let’s see where this Great Deep project takes us, shall we?
